After prolonged discussions with DH, we've decided to adopt.
A puppy, I mean.
I stumbled across a breeder of Standard Poodles in Fraser Valley, BC, Canada, that's breeding them as real working dogs instead of those frail show critters, and not line breeding, either, but actually crossing unrelated Standard Poodles. These are the pooches I remember from my childhood (we had five, total); thick, sturdy dogs with brains and personality.
Such a face:
We're hoping for a boy, of course, but we want to be surprised.
Wish us luck!

So you're having a baby! Woo-hoo! LCM is in charge of the shower.
Like he's ever had one.
Mazel tov!
Leave it to you to find a way to adopt a stereotype without having it be a stereotype.
The pix are a little misleading, as we're actually going for black, silver, or blue (in that order). It's not a color preference, really (we think all the colors are beautiful). Those three are the least expensive (by at least $500) because they're the most common colors. We want a boy for the same reason. Girls cost more (quelle surprise).
Just paying for the wedding in later years can send most parents to the poorhouse.
Oh, I can't wait to see Robbie go all soft and misty-eyed on us. I wonder how long it will be before he starts his puppy blog.
E.(mily), darling, I can barely keep up with this blog. Once we get our puppy you'll be lucky to hear from me at all. (For anyone who considers that a bonus, send your donations to my PayPal account.)
Awwww! What a cute puppy face!
